Faraba Well Womens Update April 2026

April 2026 Another successful meeting between Generation Gambia Trustees and the Faraba Clinic Health Committee, marking significant progress in rural healthcare development following their initial 2025 introduction.

Rewarding return to Faraba

  • Positive Progress & Staffing: The committee welcomed the Generation Gambia Trustees back to view improvements made since their first visit in November 2025. A major development is the appointment of a dedicated OIC (officer in charge) midwife, Isatou Suwareh who holds regular clinic days. Her expertise is already positively impacting community health outcomes.
  • Community Health Initiative: GG trustee Binta Saidy proposed a new “Community Health Champions” initiative to educate villagers on non-communicable diseases. This program will focus on awareness, screening, and education for Hypertension and Diabetes.
  • Funding Commitment: Generation Gambia trustees formally agreed to fund essential medical equipment to support the ongoing maternity, baby, hypertension, diabetes, and vaccination clinics.

Planned Equipment Acquisitions

The following equipment will be funded to enhance the clinic’s diagnostic and treatment capabilities:

  • Blood Pressure Machines (For hypertension management and prenatal care)
  • Fetal Dopplers (For enhanced midwifery services/maternity)
  • Nebulisers (For treating acute respiratory infections)This initiative aligns with local efforts to improve healthcare access in the rapidly growing Faraba region.
